SwapBots
This week Draw & Code released our latest project – SwapBots – an augmented reality toy that does what we do best; merging the physical and the digital to create something unique. Working alongside fellow Liverpool company Juxdit, this is our first crowd-funded project and a really brave step for us. Here’s John, company director and immersive technology whizzkid, on why SwapBots means something to us…
As a director of a technology company you face many challenging days but to balance these out there are the great days too. Today feels like one of those days.
For the past four years we’ve been gradually shifting our focus from being a more traditional digital agency to one that specialises in utilising immersive technologies, such as augmented and virtual reality, to provide experiences and solutions that other mediums can’t deliver.
This journey into immersive technology has pushed us to the limit to find innovative yet relevant solutions for clients in all manner of industries. We love doing this and have worked with some fantastic companies over the years but every so often you want to apply this creativity to your own products.
Augmented Reality Toy
Today we’re announcing that we have created a collectible augmented reality toy that we’re incredibly proud of. The idea was conceived over a few pints in our local pub and has developed over the last 18 months into a fully prototyped physical AR ready toy. Started with minimal funding and developed alongside client projects, we’re now taking the next step and crowdfunding the product to get it to market.
SwapBots are the result of years of research and development, six months of planning, prototyping, designing, coding and playing! We’d love your support and feedback to help make our dreams an augmented reality.
