Chazayo McKenzie joined us on a work placement from Catch 22, a non-profit business with a social mission of empowerment.
How did you come to work with Draw & Code?
Catch22 gave me an opportunity to take an offer with Draw & Code to do Augmented reality with Unity which was very new to me.
How was your experience working with us?
The experience was amazing. I enjoyed listening to what plans each member of the team had to do for their projects. It allowed me to gain a perspective of how each member is structured to complete their jobs. Also, the team was always willing to help if I had any problems with my tasks.
What did you work on?
I have been working on multiple augmented reality projects using Unity throughout the week. I created image tracking, face tracking and spawned assets onto my screen, it was fun to develop my skills using Unity to create android apps.
Portfolio of Chazayo’s work experience work.
What did you learn from the experience?
I’ve learned how each person of the team completed the jobs and how they found alternative methods to communicate because they’re at home instead of in the offices. Furthermore, I gained knowledge on jobs such as this by having a website showing projects that I’ve done in the past to increase my chances of employment. Now that I have completed the augmented reality task, I can now use this in my portfolio to show other employers.
What’s next for you?
I can now upload these projects onto my portfolio and look for opportunities to improve myself more.
My final thoughts: Being with Draw & Code and seeing how they work has motivated me to work in the tech industry.
It was a great experience working with Draw & Code.
